Matt Hobbs set to have last laugh at Fosun as Crystal Palace eye stunning Wolves double swoop
Matt Hobbs has had a bright start since moving to Crystal Palace in the summer.
After departing Wolves through mutual consent, he was quick to join the Eagles, becoming their director of football.
So far, this has gone well, with Crystal Palace on track for another memorable season, with the Croydon side even pushing for Champions League football.
In comparison, his former employers are almost certain for relegation, sitting bottom of the Premier League with just two points.
Now, Palace are eyeing January moves for the Old Gold duo Jorgen Strand Larsen and Joao Gomes, in what would be a humiliating deal for the Black Country side.
Crystal Palace eye Jorgen Strand Larsen and Joao Gomes
According to The Telegraph on 24 December, Palace are keen to add Larsen and Gomes in the upcoming window.
Oliver Glasner wants both a striker and a midfielder next month and are waiting to see if Wolves are set to make players available before their inevitable relegation.
While there will be some scepticism about the potential deals by Palace fans, for Hobbs, it would be the ultimate payback for his summer departure.
The former sporting director for all accounts did well at the Old Gold side, bringing in talented players for small fees, which led to back-to-back survival campaigns for Wolves.
Crystal Palace are reportedly in the race to sign #Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and also hold an interest in midfielder Joao Gomes.

However, Fosun opted to dissolve the position and employ Teti, who became the director of professional football, something that did not last long.
Now, with both parties in highly contrasting positions, if Hobbs is able to pull off this double swoop for two of Wolves’ best players, it would make a mockery of how the last few months have panned out, from the former scout.
Can Larsen and Gomes be successful at Crystal Palace?
The question on many Palace fans’ lips will be, can either of these two stars be successful, given their current form?
While the start of this season has been dreadful for both Wolves stars, previously, they had been some of the best players outside in the bottom half of the league.
Larsen scored 14 goals last campaign, and while he has only netted once to date in the Premier League this season, service appears to be a big problem at Wolves.
On top of this, despite their situation, Gomes has been one of the Old Gold’s better players this season and is struggling to perform given the quality around him.
Therefore, if Palace were to sign the duo, when placed into a side that is in-form and thriving, there is every chance that they can return to their best and become excellent new additions.
