McAvennie fumes at Man United stars amid Erik ten Hag claim – ‘I’ll never forgive them’
Frank McAvennie will “never forgive” the Man United players who produce a lacklustre display against Brentford.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker suggested the performance is a damning indictment of Erik ten Hag’s credentials.
The Red Devils were beaten 4-0 by Brentford on Saturday (13 August).
Ten Hag’s side also suffered a 2-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford in their opening game of the season last weekend (7 August).
Speaking to club media (14 August), the United boss said the team will have to “stick together” and “work hard” to overcome the challenging period.
He added that the team need to have “more belief” and show that on the pitch.
McAvennie claimed the players don’t want to put the work in for the club.
“See when everything is against you, you want people to fight against it,” he told Football Insider.

“For me, I’ll never forgive them and I’m not even a Man United supporter. It doesn’t cost anything. If you’re having a bad game you can still have an influence by running around and putting the hard work in. These boys don’t seem to want to do that.
“They need to go back to basics and start getting the confidence in the team again and something might work. Is Ten Hag the manager to do that? I don’t know, he looked like a beaten man at the weekend.“
