Sources: Marseille beat Man United to signing of Sayha Seha after £8.5m bid accepted

Marseille have beaten Man United to the £8.5million signing of Troyes sensation Sayha Seha, sources have told Football Insider.

United were among a number of top clubs chasing the attacking midfielder, 17, and held talks over a potential deal.

But French giants Marseille have won the race for Seha’s signature after a breakthrough in negotiations.

They have agreed to pay £8.5million including add-ons for the rising star.

He is now expected to sign a long-term contract at the Stade Velodrome after agreeing personal terms.

The former France Under-17 international is yet to make his professional debut but has impressed while playing for Troyes’ youth teams.

He scored twice and provided a further three assists in three games as Troyes Under-19s reached the semi-finals of the Coupe Gambardella – the French equivalent of the FA Youth Cup – last season.

Man United have long been known for signing the best young talent from both home and abroad but have missed out on Seha on this occasion.

Last season’s Under-23s player of the season Alvaro Fernandez, 19, was recruited from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.

Alejandro Garnacho, 18, who joined from Atletico Madrid in the same summer, impressed under Erik ten Hag in pre-season and has three senior appearances under his belt.

Man United’s Under-21s have lost their opening two games of the Premier League 2 season.

Their latest defeat was a 5-1 hammering by Crystal Palace last Friday (12 August).
