McLeish expects Rangers stars to hold ‘clear-the-air’ talks with Goldson after dressing room reveal

Alex McLeish has suggested Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have told Connor Goldson to hold talks with his Rangers teammates after his controversial outburst last weekend.

The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old may need to clear the air after lambasting certain players over their work ethic and “hunger”.

As quoted by talkSPORT (November 22nd), Goldson accused some teammates of thinking “they don’t need to work as hard” this season after the 3-1 loss to Hibernian.

Van Bronckhorst, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, confirmed he has since spoken to the Englishman after his outburst and revealed the “team wasn’t happy” in the dressing room.

McLeish suggested the new Ibrox boss would want everything sorted behind closed doors.

“I would have told him to keep that in house, simple as that,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“If there’s anything like that which needs discussing, just do it amongst yourselves as a team and clear the air.

“Back in the day, Lorenzo Amoruso would have a blast at one or two of the players after a game, Barry Ferguson would have a blast at him and Arthur Numan would then have a go back at him. After that, it was done and dusted.

“We would always make sure we were ready to go for the next game.”

Rangers secured their place in the Europa League knockout stage last night.
