Meek Kane has left Tottenham players miffed, report shares how he can get them onside
By Russell Edge
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has left his team mates frustrated after he accepted a modest pay rise during contract negotiations last year, according to a report.
The Times claim on their website that the England striker was happy to agree on Daniel Levy’s offer which saw him become the club’s highest earner in history with wages in the region of £100,000-a-week.
However, the report states that due to Kane demonstrating his satisfaction with wages far below what the top earning Premier League stars are receiving, other Tottenham players have no bargaining power when negotiating a potential pay rise with the chairman.
It is said that in negotiations, Levy argues that Kane deserves to be the highest earner at the club, and that because he is happy with his earnings, other players should be satisfied with lesser wages.
The newspaper says that the Spurs stars want Kane to be less meek and demand a wage more befitting of his talent and loyalty to the club, which in turn would allow them to raise their own demands, as well as get his team mates back on side.
A product of the youth system at Tottenham, Kane has been a revelation since breaking into the first team squad, having scored over 20 league goals in each of the last three seasons with the Lilywhites.
He has picked up two successive Premier League golden boot awards, and has continued his excellent form into this season, with nine goals in eight appearances across all competitions.
