Michael Carrick named as potential Moyes replacement after West Ham source’s reveal – pundit

Paul Robinson has named Sean Dyche and Michael Carrick as potential names to replace David Moyes at West Ham.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested neither appoint would be ideal and instead urged the board to stick by Moyes.

The Irons have lost their five league games on the bounce.

Sources have told Football Insider (31 December) that Moyes is edging closer to the sack following a 2-0 defeat to Brentford on 30 December.

The ex-Everton and Man United boss put pen to paper on a new contract at the London Stadium 18 months ago.

When asked by Football Insider who could potentially replace Moyes, Robinson said: “What type of manager should they bring in?

“I think they would be looking at the likes of Sean Dyche. He is an excellent manager who will keep West Ham in the Premier League but I’m sure there would be many West Ham fans who would not want his brand of football without giving him a chance.

“Michael Carrick is doing a superb job at Middlesbrough. He has a great relationship with the club. But, I think it is too early for him to make that move. There would be potential there but it would be down the line.

“You have to be very careful. I think David Moyes deserves time and the opportunity to get it right as bad as it is at the moment. They have to be realistic. There are not many options out there.”
