Mikey Johnston and Celtic teammate tipped to seal exit after Saturday development – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Mikey Johnston and Christopher Jullien will exit Celtic before the window shuts.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Rangers defender said players like Johnston and Jullien, who did not feature in Saturday’s matchday squad at Ross County, should be “looking elsewhere”.

Both Jullien and Johnston have been left out of the Hoops’ squad for the first two matches of their Scottish Premier League campaign.

According to Sudinfo, reported in the Daily Record (5 August), Standard Liege are waiting for incoming sporting director Fergal Harkin to arrive at the club before finalising a deal for Johnston, 23.

The winger has three years remaining on his contract at Parkhead.

Jullien, 29, who has also been linked with a move away from the Glasgow club, has entered the final 12 months of his Celtic contract.

When asked if the two players’ time at Celtic is coming to an end, Hutton told Football Insider: “Probably.

I think when you start the season and you’re not in the matchday squad, you’re in the stand, the writing’s on the wall.

Celtic

I was looking at the subs on the bench, I think Celtic are very strong, they’re in a good place at this moment in time, especially with the likes of [James] Forrest, [Liel] Abada, [Giorgos] Giakoumakis, these kinds of guys on the bench, and they’re starting XI is very strong.

These players that are on the periphery, on the fringe, not even making matchday squads, you’re thinking they really need to start looking elsewhere.
