Mills fears ‘brilliant’ Bowen to punish Leeds amid ‘massive’ West Ham claim

Leeds United need West Ham to be “complacent” to have any hope of securing a result in Sunday’s clash, according to Danny Mills.

The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Irons will be “starting to believe” that they can achieve a top-four finish this season.

Leeds United will be buoyed by the potential returns of Patrick Bamford, Pascal Struijk, and Rodrigo as the Whites travel to the London Stadium for the second time in seven days.

West Ham recorded a 2-0 win over Marcelo Bielsa’s depleted side last Sunday (9 January) to claim their place in the FA Cup fourth round.

Mills highlighted the danger of “brilliant” Hammers man Jarrod Bowen, who has netted eight goals this term.

He claimed the Irons will be “pushing all-out” to secure a “massive” three points in their Champions League hunt.

“Leeds will have to hope West Ham have let a little bit of complacency creep in,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“But knowing David Moyes, Stuart Pearce, and the coaching staff – I very much doubt that.

“West Ham obviously got another good result against Norwich and they’re back in that top four. They’ll be starting to believe that they can do it. They’ll be pushing all-out to win the game, it’s massive.

“Jarrod Bowen is in brilliant form, and Michail Antonio is fit and firing. It’s going to be a very difficult game for Leeds, they’re vulnerable.

“They had a dip in form, but every team goes through that. Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United – they’ve all experienced it.

“A bit of a blip was to be expected, especially with the lack of depth that West Ham have.”
