Mills rips into Liverpool chiefs as he tips mass exodus after Wijnaldum latest

Danny Mills has suggested Georginio Wijnaldum‘s potential summer exit could spark a mass exodus from Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England and Manchester City defender claimed two other star players will look to quit the club if they do not qualify for next season’s Champions League.

This site understands Wijnaldum is closing in on a move to Barcelona and a deal is “95 per cent done” already.

The Dutchman is out of contract at the end of the season and is, therefore, free to negotiate with foreign sides.

And Mills has insisted the club should have tied down the 30-year-old when things were going right at Anfield.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Suddenly if Liverpool don’t make the Champions League he’s gone, without a shadow of a doubt.

“There might be one or two others pushing for a move as well. It’s precarious for Liverpool in terms of what the end of the season offers and big exits.

“We know that Barcelona is a massive rebuilding project and so is Liverpool in a way, to bounce back from where they are with the amount of games they’ve lost.

“You get the opportunity to go and play for Barcelona it’s very hard to turn down and you do everything you can to force through that move as best as you possibly can.

Liverpool manager and player

“Liverpool haven’t shown him how much they want him in that time, perhaps. They’ve made him feel ‘Hang on a minute, you didn’t really want me when we were doing well, suddenly now we’re not doing so well you want me. Well, no.’

“Loyalty goes both ways and reward goes both ways. He’s done very well for the club, they’ve got to give him something back.”

In other news, Nottingham Forest made two moves to sign a Liverpool “monster” and Jurgen Klopp was tempted.
