‘Mind-boggling’ Liel Abada claim made by expert after Celtic source’s £15m reveal

A potential valuation of £15million for Celtic star Liel Abada is “mind-boggling”.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the in-from Hoops star.

On Tuesday (27 September), sources told this site that the Parkhead club believe Liel Abada will be worth £15million-plus next year.

Ange Postecoglou and his staff have been impressed with the 20-year-old’s development since his arrival in Glasgow last year.

The winger has scored six goals in seven Scottish Premiership games so far this season after bagging 15 in 54 total appearances last term.

McLeish insists the valuation is “mind-boggling”.

“I probably haven’t seen enough of him to put that valuation on him,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“But you would think that the big clubs, the clubs who have that kind of money, won’t want to waste it.

“Abada, if he is at that kind of level, these prices are mind-boggling, through the roof. It is very difficult to reject those offers if they come in.

“Is he there yet? I’m not sure. There is no doubting he has started this season very well, Celtic have as a club. He is still young so there is so much room to grow there.

“I think it’s one to keep an eye on.”

Abada joined the Celts from Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikvah for around £3.5million.

The Hoops are next in action against Motherwell on 1 October.
