Mohamed Salah deal ‘will get done’ after Liverpool source’s update – pundit

Paul Robinson is adamant Mohamed Salah will put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and England number one claimed the 29-year-old’s future is “not in question” and expects is it “only a matter of time” before he signs.

Salah has just over 12 months remaining on his contract at Anfield.

Negotiations between the club and the Egypt international’s agent Ramy Abbas have proved difficult to date even though both parties want to extend their relationship.

A source close to Liverpool told Football Insider (14 May) that the club are set for new contract talks and are confident of reaching an agreement.

The Reds are prepared to offer the Premier League’s top goalscorer a four-year deal to remain on Merseyside.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Salah’s situation, Robinson said: “It’s not in question.

“He is the best player in the world. He can have what he wants.

“When you look at his tally this year, the amount of goals and assists he has… He is the best player in the world.

“The contract negotiations for Salah will get done. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time now.”

Salah has been one of the Premier League standout performers in the 2021-22 campaign.

He has contributed a staggering 30 goals and 16 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.
