‘Mohammed Kudus is only interested in signing for Tottenham’

Tottenham have received a major boost in their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus despite interest from Chelsea, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 24-year-old has made clear he is only interested in joining Spurs at this stage.

This will ease initial concerns that Chelsea could leapfrog their London rivals in the race for his signature as they continue to negotiate over a fee with West Ham.

Brown previously told Football Insider that Chelsea want to sign Kudus and are prepared to rival Thomas Frank’s side in their pursuit, throwing a spanner in the works.

Meanwhile, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 5 July that Tottenham are reluctant to match West Ham’s valuation and could miss out as a result.

However, that is no longer expected to be an issue as Kudus has communicated his despite to join Spurs, putting pressure on West Ham to accept an offer.

Tottenham boosted in efforts to sign Mohammed Kudus

Brown told Football Insider on 7 July that Tottenham are negotiating with West Ham and are confident they can reach an agreement to sign the Ghana international.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted the attacking midfielder is pushing to make the move to North London.

There have been three or four clubs interested in Kudus,” he told Football Insider.

“But from what I hear, he’s narrowed his own market and made his intentions clear.

“He has told West Ham he’s not interested in any of the other suitors, whether that’s Chelsea or whoever, he’s only interested in going to Tottenham.

“That’s a big boost for Spurs not just because they don’t have to worry about other clubs coming in to sign him, but also in the negotiations.

“It puts pressure on West Ham to accept an offer because that’s the one the player wants.”

Richarlison set to leave Spurs amid Saudi Pro League interest

Incoming deals are not the only talking point at Spurs at the moment, as Frank is also planning to move on some of the fringe players from the first-team squad.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 7 July that Richarlison is ready to leave Tottenham as Saudi Pro League clubs continue to keep an eye on his situation.

The club’s interest in Kudus is likely to push the Brazil star further down the pecking order, while Frank is prepared to move on without him in his plans.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in February that Tottenham are keen to cash in on Richarlison and explored a move to sell him late in the mid-season window.
