Moussa Diaby offer ‘too good’ for Aston Villa to reject after terms agreed

Aston Villa are expected to sell Moussa Diaby within days after receiving an offer that’s “too good” to turn down, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that talks are at an advanced stage between Al Ittihad and Villa over a potential deal and the structure of payments.

The 25-year-old only joined the Premier League club last season, but he’s expected to move on after an impressive debut campaign.

Villa are discussing a deal worth over £45million as they look to sell Diaby at a profit.

Diaby has agreed personal terms with Al Ittihad after being offered a “huge” offer to join.

Considering the importance of PSR and FFP, the Premier League side will see this deal as a positive step toward balancing things out with new arrivals.

However, Football Insider did reveal that Villa still owes Bayer Leverkusen over half the money they paid for Diaby last summer.

Aston Villa selling Moussa Diaby will open the door for new arrivals

Villa worked hard to ensure they were compliant with PSR earlier this summer and are now preparing to bring in several new faces ahead of next season.

Even though Diaby made 19 goal contributions last season to help Villa achieve Champions League football, his sale will help facilitate those signings.

Football Insider reported that Amadou Onana is set to join the club this summer for a fee of £50million.

Jaden Philogene is also expected to be moving to Villa Park in this window for £30million, and sources say he will fill the void Diaby is set to leave.

Diaby might not be the only high-profile departure taking place at Villa Park this summer though, as Chelsea are lining up a swap deal for Ollie Watkins.

The Blues are in the market for a first-choice striker this summer, and Football Insider revealed they’re willing to offer Conor Gallagher plus cash to make a deal happen.
