Much improved Celtic star reveals secret behind his wonderful season
Celtic winger James Forrest has revealed what he believes has been the main reason behind his superb run of form his season.
The 26-year-old took his goal tally to the season to 16 goals after scoring the first hat-trick of his career against Partick Thistle.
The Hoops didn’t play at their best in the 3-2 win over their Glasgow rivals, and not for the first time this season they were indebted to the excellent form of the player who looks to be one of the leading candidates for player of the year.
The Scotland international now trails Hoops top scorer Scott Sinclair by only one goal, and he put his success down to the fact that at a big team like Celtic you need to keep playing well or you will lose your place in the team.
“Obviously in my position you get chances and you need to be doing well to stay in the team” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“I have kicked on this season and we still have a good few games left. I just have to keep going.”
Forrest will be one of the most important players for the Hoops in their upcoming Europa League last 32 first leg match against Zenit on Thursday.
The winger turned in one of his best performances of the season against Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stages, and a similar performance against the Russian side would give the Hoops a decent chance of progressing from what looks like it could be a tough match.
