Murty delivers verdict on Rangers performance levels against tougher sides

Rangers manager Graeme Murty insists Rangers need to get their performances to a similar level as the wins at Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen and stay there after their recent patchy form left them third in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers picked up wins at three of their traditionally tougher fixtures before dropping points at home to the likes of Hamilton and St. Johnstone.

The Gers are three points off Aberdeen in second in the league going into this weekend’s Old Firm clash with Celtic at Parkhead.

Murty insists his side need to consistently perform in a similar way to the away wins after showing they are more than capable.

“The players have shown a level of performance when they go to places like Murrayfield, Easter Road and Pittodrie,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account. “We need to make sure we can stay at a level.”

Since taking the reins in October Murty has won seven of his eleven games in charge of the Light Blues.

Saturday’s Old Firm will be Murty’s second visit as Rangers boss after also being in charge for the 1-1 draw with Brendan Rodgers’ side in March 2017.

After facing their bitter rivals, the Gers jet off to Florida to take part in the Florida Cup with the likes of Corinthians, PSV Eindhoven and A. Mineirio
