Murty must axe Rangers mainstay after yet another nightmare, 25-yr-old is perfect replacement

COMMENT

Rangers have suffered back-to-back Scottish Premiership defeats for the first time since December and Graeme Murty should be left with some tough decisions to make over the international break.

One thing that the Ibrox manager must do is axe January signing Sean Goss, who in recent weeks has looked a mere shadow of what fans witnessed when he first arrived in Glasgow on loan from QPR.

Goss, 22, has gone completely missing against Celtic and Kilmarnock in the last two losses and Murty clearly had seen enough from the midfielder when he was substituted off at half-time on Saturday after a nightmare opening 45 minutes.

The midfielder has been a mainstay of Murty’s first-team since moving to Govan, making 11 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals in the process.

However the left-footed ace has not been anywhere near good enough against the Scottish Premiership’s form teams and has proven that he cannot be relied upon for the next game against Motherwell on March 31 after they held Celtic to a 0-0 draw and have already beaten Rangers once this term.

Murty must replace Goss with Jason Holt in the starting line-up as the 25-year-old has shown that his performances have improved vastly this season and it was pretty harsh on him to be axed in the first place.

Holt had been ever-present for the Gers up until the start of February and even wore the captain’s armband on three occasions – winning all three games.

It makes perfect sense to rescue this alarming U-turn in form and mixing up the midfield will be a perfect way to get the results back on track to try and secure second place.

In other Rangers news, fans have demanded that the club signs this Old Firm scourge in the summer, claiming he is better than Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham.
