Newcastle United fans are excited as news emerges the club are set to activate a one-year extension to Sean Longstaff’s contract.
According to The Telegraph, the Premier League giants are set to trigger Longstaff’s extension clause to keep him at the club until summer 2026 at a minimum.
The _-year-old has entered the final year of his existing contract at the club, but Eddie Howe wants to pin him down and secure his future before January.
The central midfielder would be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January if a new deal isn’t reached, which is why the Magpies are looking to extend his deal.
Longstaff has worked his way through the ranks from Newcastle’s youth system, breaking into the first team in 2016.
The midfielder has been a regular in the team ever since, making 192 appearances in all competitions and scoring 16 goals.
