Newcastle United fans are disappointed after Eddie Howe’s latest comments about the transfer window.

The Newcastle boss admitted the club can “probably not” afford both a right-winger and a centre-back before the window closes this week.

Football Insider revealed that the club is “confident” of signing Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi this week, which puts serious doubts over a potential right-winger signing.

Howe has been in the market for a right-winger throughout the summer but has been unable to secure one to this point.

The focus on signing Guehi has been important for the Magpies, but with Palace holding out for £70million it will not come cheaply.

Jacob Murphy has started right-wing in Newcastle’s opening Premier League fixtures.

Newcastle United fans view this transfer window as a ‘failure’

The Magpies have been linked with Noni Madueke and Jarrod Bowen this summer but haven’t made any official transfer.
