Newcastle fans: ‘Disgrace’ Willock ‘must be sold’ after what he did v Brighton
Newcastle United fans are insisting Joe Willock must leave the club this summer after his performance in the Premier League clash v Brighton.
Eddie Howe’s side fought back to secure a 1-1 draw at the Amex after a first-half goal from former Magpies man Yankuba Minteh sent the hosts into half-time in the lead.
The second half saw the Magpies eventually find their equaliser through an Alexander Isak penalty in the 89th minute in a boost to their Champions League hopes.
However, the spotlight from the travelling fans was fixed squarely on the performance of Willock who had come into the starting XI to replace Joelinton.
Newcastle were noticeably lacking the Brazilian’s physicality in the middle of the park, and Willock did little to ease the blow of his absence.
To add to their frustrations, he was then booked late in the second half after a “disgraceful” dive.
As a result, fans have suggested the club should look to move him on in the summer in favour of strengthening the squad with new options.

Joe Willock dealt blow by Newcastle transfer news
Willock has struggled to make an impact on Howe’s side this season, having started just 15 of his 38 appearances in another injury-stricken season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle plan to keep Sandro Tonali this summer and have no intention of selling Bruno Guimaraes or Joelinton, as their midfield trio looks set.
This has made the English midfielder’s role even more difficult as his game time will be limited and he has been pushed further down the pecking order.
Magpies fans slam Joe Willock after what he did v Brighton
Willock has frequently been criticised by fans at St James’ Park this season, largely due to his poor injury record, but he has failed to convince them with his performances.
Against Brighton, his limitations were laid bare once more and his dive put the nail in the coffin for the frustrated travelling supporters.
Following the game, fans took to social media to make their grievances known as Willock was labelled “shocking” and “a disgrace”.
