Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Ayoze Perez performance against QPR

By Amir Mir

Ayoze Perez produced a poor display as Newcastle drew 2-2 against QPR on Wednesday night – and fans on Twitter slammed his performance.

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey gave Rafa Benitez’ side the lead in the first minute with a controlled shot from outside the box.

However, Ian Holloway’s men hassled the promotion chasers throughout the game and deservedly drew level at half time through Conor Washington.

Winger Matt Ritchie scored a magnificent headed goal after the break, but with minutes left on the clock centre-back, Ciaran Clark headed into his own net.

Spaniard Perez had a brilliant opportunity to kill off the game at 2-1, but his decision-making let him down.

Benitez substituted the 24-year-old late into the second half for midfielder Mo Diame but fans were not happy with his performance.

Supporters believe his poor displays are becoming too consistent as they slammed him and captain Jamaal Lascelles for being embarrassing on the night.

Fans believe Perez should have got on the scoresheet on the night but they didn’t believe he was the only problem.

Many felt that the whole Magpies defence was all over the shop as they conceded two very costly goals following their 3-0 loss to League One Oxford in the FA Cup at the weekend.

One supporter stated that he cannot wait for star striker Dwight Gayle to return, while another believes Perez is lacking in confidence and shouldn’t be criticised that much.
