‘Newcastle must re-sign Elliot Anderson’ – fans stunned as shock footage emerges
Newcastle United fans were in party mode on Sunday (16 March) as they defeated Liverpool and won the EFL Cup, and that included Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The Magpies put a dominant performance together at Wembley Stadium to claim their first trophy since the 1955 FA Cup after goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak.
Liverpool continued to fight back to try and get back into the game until the death as Federico Chiesa scored in the 94th minute.
The Newcastle squad brought an end to the club’s lengthy wait for silverware in what proved to be a historic and emotional day for anyone connected with the Magpies.
That included former Newcastle midfielder Anderson, who was spotted in the crowd celebrating the victory with the fans.
Eddie Howe’s team will now turn their attention to the Premier League as they face Brentford on 2 April during their next outing.
The possibility of finishing in the top four is now in their hands after Man City and Chelsea slipped up, as winning their game in hand would lead to them overtaking both teams.
Elliot Anderson was sold under controversial circumstances
Anderson has been one of the most impressive players in the Premier League this season for Nottingham Forest, having joined the club during last summer.

The 22-year-old was someone who Howe didn’t want to sell, but due to financial fair play and profit and sustainability rules, he was sacrificed by the club to avoid any points deductions.
However, the Newcastle-born footballer remains a fan of his hometown club which is why he purchased a ticket and attended the EFL Cup final with the Toon Army.
Newcastle fans want Anderson to return
Newcastle fans were blown away by seeing Anderson in the crowd as footage of him celebrating as his former teammates reacted was shown online.
Supporters have now urged the club to re-sign Anderson after the passion that he showcased.
