Newcastle now ‘owe jealous ex-star’ after Aleksander Isak announcement
Demba Ba claims Newcastle now “owe” him as he reacted to an announcement about in-form star striker Alexander Isak.
The former Magpies forward found himself in a humorous exchange with legendary predecessor Alan Shearer on social media after the latter announced an upcoming BBC Sport interview with Isak.
Shearer shared a photo on X with the current Newcastle star, teasing the release of an interview with the “Premier League’s most inform striker” ahead of the team’s match against Fulham on 1 February.
Ba, known for his prolific spell at St. James’ Park, jokingly commented that he was “jealous” Shearer never interviewed him during his time at the club when he was “on fire.”
Shearer responded, explaining he had tried to meet Ba in the past, but despite “always asking” the club “didn’t invite” him back then. Ba playfully replied, “Newcastle, you [owe] me one”.
Newcastle continue striker legacy with Alexander Isak following Alan Shearer and Demba Ba
Few would dispute Shearer’s claim that Isak is the league’s most in-form striker right now.
The Swedish international has delivered an exceptional return of 17 goals and five assists in 21 Premier League appearances this season.
Isak has started every one of those matches and has been instrumental in the club’s impressive run of form, scoring in nine of his last 10 league games.

His outstanding performances have caught the attention of major clubs, with Arsenal making him a priority target for the summer transfer window.
Despite the interest, Football Insider revealed that Newcastle are working hard to secure Isak’s future with a new contract amid growing speculation about his situation.
Meanwhile, fans were treated to a lighthearted moment as former Newcastle striker Ba interacted with Shearer on social media.
Ba, who netted 29 goals and provided six assists in 58 games for the club, sparked an amusing exchange between the two.
Football Insider Verdict
Ba remains a cult hero at Newcastle for his lethal partnership with Papiss Cisse and his back-to-back double-digit scoring seasons.
His recent tweets show he’s still an avid supporter of the club, and it’s an exciting time to be a Newcastle fan with Eddie Howe’s side pushing for European football once again.
