Newcastle tipped for ‘biblical’ spending spree after confirmed news – Fans react
Newcastle United fans have tipped the club to go on a spending spree after Man City entered legal action against the Premier League.
City’s protests are against the league’s associated party transaction rules, which means any sponsorship deals between related parties must be ratified by the league.
For example, Etihad Airways’ sponsorship of Man City is regulated, as it would be if Aramco were to sponsor Newcastle, to ensure the figures are realistic.
These rules were introduced in the wake of the Saudi takeover of Newcastle in 2021 in a bid to prevent overinflated sponsorship deals allowing the club to spend huge money while balancing the books.
Should City win their case, the door would open for big-money sponsorship deals involving Newcastle and PIF’s other investments, allowing more money to be pumped into the club.
Given Newcastle’s well-documented financial struggles this summer in terms of spending in the transfer market, a change to the rules could see those floodgates opened.

In theory, any other non-state-owned football club would likely be left in the dust with no access to similar revenue streams, while City and Newcastle would thrive.
Fans suggested large sums of money that could be invested into the club, some calling for deals up to £1billion – a view ahead to what a change of rules would mean for the Premier League.
In other news, Arsenal and Liverpool fans have raged at City’s legal challenge.
