Newcastle tipped to blow Chelsea out of the water

Newcastle United have been tipped to break their goalscoring duck when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 27 October.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains well-connected within the game, predicted there to be plenty of goals on both sides in a hotly-contested clash.

However, he warned that if the issues in front of goal persist, it could start to become a worrying situation for Eddie Howe’s side.

This comes after the Magpies failed to score in consecutive games against Everton and Brighton, and have scored just eight in eight league games so far this season.

The team have endured a mixed start to their campaign with three goals, three draws and two defeats which has them currently sitting 19th in the league table.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have scored 14 goals in their last four home games across all competitions and have gained plenty of confidence in the final third.

As a result, there are expected to be plenty of goals in the clash at Stamford Bridge, with the Magpies desperate to break their poor form in front of goal.

Newcastle backed to break goalscoring duck v Chelsea

Alexander Isak made his return from injury during the 1-0 defeat to Brighton last time out, and will be looking to rediscover his goalscoring touch in Howe’s starting XI.

Robinson, meanwhile, has insisted that the team has enough talent and creativity to start scoring goals again and has backed them to do so against the Blues.

If it was longer term, I’d be worried,” he told Football Insider.

“But if you look at the players on the pitch, the likes of Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy, Joelinton, Sandro Tonali.

“The talent is there and the creativity is there.

“It’s just the connection in the final third and decision-making has been lacking quality.

“It’s a tough game this weekend against Chelsea. If you were a betting man, there’ll certainly be goals in that game.

“Chelsea score plenty of goals at home and I fancy Chelsea to break their duck in form.

“I think we’re looking at a few goals at Stamford Bridge this weekend.”
