Newcastle United fans are calling for the club to cash in on Sean Longstaff in January despite the offer of a new contract being mooted in recent days.
Football Insider revealed on 17 September that Newcastle are not willing to let the 26-year-old leave for free and will offer him a new contract in the coming weeks.
Sources say the Magpies feel it would be bad business to let an academy product with plenty of Premier League experience leave upon the expiry of his contract.
However, many fans have called for his time at the club to come to an end – whether that be in January or upon the expiry of his contract.
One even described the offer of a new deal as “devastating news”.
Supporters have insisted the club should try to make as much money as possible from an exit deal, rather than extend his stay at St James’ Park.
This comes just days after fans were left raging at Longstaff after his performance in their 2-1 victory against Wolves at Molineux.

With Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes providing high-profile options for Howe’s midfield, alongside the likes of Lewis Miley, fans are insisting there is no longer a place for Longstaff.
However, he has been heavily involved in the first-team during the season so far, and is one of the manager’s preferred options on the team sheet.
After news of the contract decision broke on social media, fans are insisting the club should avoid the offer of a new deal and instead cash in on his signature.
Others even insisted he should be allowed to leave for free.
