‘Newcastle to bring back Amanda Staveley’ – fans erupt after deal agreed
Newcastle fans are united in their calls for Amanda Staveley to return as the club’s transfer frustrations continue to mount.
Staveley became the public face of Newcastle’s Saudi-backed takeover but left the club in 2024 after three years as a director and minority co-owner.
She and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi were key figures in the 2021 deal that saw Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquire an 80% majority stake in the club.
Now, the club find themselves in an uncertain period off the pitch, with sporting director Paul Mitchell expected to leave Newcastle during the transfer window. His departure comes as the club already faces setbacks in the market.
Newcastle have long held interest in Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but the winger now appears destined for a move to Manchester United, dealing a blow to Newcastle’s summer plans.
While the club continues to navigate an unsettled period behind the scenes as key personnel changes, fans have voiced their frustration after another target seems to have chosen to go elsewhere.

Chelsea beat Newcastle to Joao Pedro transfer
Newcastle were in advanced talks to sign Brighton star Joao Pedro after failing in their pursuit of Mbeumo, and while they looked to be frontrunners, they have been beaten to the punch yet again.
Football Insider understands that Chelsea have now reached an agreement with Brighton to sign Pedro.
This follows a report from Football Insider back in May claiming Pedro had already expressed his desire to join Chelsea this summer after the Blues entered the race for his signature.
It’s another blow to Eddie Howe’s transfer plans, with Newcastle already missing out on Mbeumo and Liam Delap — who also opted for a move to Stamford Bridge over St James’ Park.

Newcastle fans demand Amanda Staveley return amid transfer frustration
After another top target slips away, frustrated Newcastle fans have taken to social media to call for Staveley’s return.
She played a key role in Newcastle’s high-profile signings during her time as a director, including the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes, and supporters are keen to see her influence back at the club.
Reports have suggested Staveley is in talks over a minority takeover at Tottenham, but many Newcastle fans are urging the club to bring her back after yet another setback in the transfer market.
One supporter posted: “Hate to say it, but we’re missing Amanda and Mehrdad” while another simply reacting to the news with: “Come back Amanda and Mehrdad!”
