Newcastle told to sign ‘brilliant’ Premier League trio this summer after source’s reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton believes James Ward-Prowse, James Maddison and Kieran Tierney would all be ‘brilliant’ signings for Newcastle United this summer.
The former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Eddie Howe’s summer targets at St James’ Park.
Football Insider sources revealed last Friday (21 April) that Newcastle are targeting Harvey Barnes, Mason Mount and Ward-Prowse in the transfer window.
Howe has kept to a transfer strategy since joining the Magpies which has included signing British players with previous Premier League experience.
Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, Nick Pope and Matt Targett have all followed that pattern, and it seems Howe is eager to stick to it moving forward.
Hutton believes the trio would be ‘brilliant’ signings for Newcastle, but also mentioned James Maddison and Kieran Tierney as ideal targets for the Tyneside club.
“All of them would be brilliant signings,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“Ward-Prowse has been excellent this season, and James Maddison and Kieran Tierney are two others who would be great fits at Newcastle.
“Newcastle are taking the right steps since their takeover I think – the complete opposite of Chelsea who have spent hundreds of millions on too many players.
“Eddie Howe is doing a fantastic job building a unit that can play with each other and progress.

“The names mentioned, most of them are in relegation fights and Newcastle can pounce and pick up some good deals.
“So Newcastle are in a good position and you can see that they want to build for the future, and players will want to be a part of that.“
