Newcastle United backed to land ‘big signings’ in January after source’s PiF reveal – expert
Newcastle United’s “landmark” win over Tottenham could lead to significant funds being spent in January.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Newcastle United moved into the top four after beating Tottenham 2-1 last weekend (23 October).
On Thursday (27 October) sources told Football Insider that Newcastle have made signing a left-sided forward a priority in January with PiF already giving the green light so sign an A-list star.
One target is Shakhtar Donetsk sensation Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Newcastle scouts watching his latest eye-catching display on Tuesday night.
Wenham watched Newcastle in person against Spurs and claims the performance could lead to more signings.
“Fair play to Newcastle, since they have been taken over they haven’t had that landmark win away at a top-six side,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Their programme has now been given a lift ahead of the January window where they may now look and say that a few more big signings could guarantee European football.
“I’ve seen some journalists getting excited about the top six now becoming a top seven, calm down. Let’s let the season play out before we start evaluating the history of the last 10 years or so.
“I still think Newcastle will do well to finish in seventh position. There will be other clubs who come into it, West Ham and Fulham maybe.
“That being said, it was a very impressive performance.”

The Magpies are next in action against Aston Villa at St James’ Park on Saturday (29 October).
The Magpies have only lost one game in the Premier League this season.
