Newcastle United backed to sign two Premier League forwards after source’s ‘surprising’ reveal – pundit

Paul Robinson has told Newcastle United to back Eddie Howe in the transfer market amid interest in Christian Pulisic and James Maddison.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Howe’s judgement has not let the Magpies astray yet.

The Magpies are in the market for offensive reinforcements in the January window.

Sources have told Football Insider (30 December) that Leicester City’s James Maddison and Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic are on Eddie Howe’s shortlist this month.

Robinson has his doubts over Pulisic who he described as “a luxury player.”

“Pulisic has been hit and miss since moving to Chelsea,” he told Football Insider.

“I’m not 100 per cent sold on him but Eddie Howe has been very successful with his transfers so far. I like what he has done there at Newcastle. They should trust him.

“If he wants Pulisic and Maddison they should try their best to get them both. Howe is a brilliant coach but I’m surprised he wants Pulisic. Perhaps he feels he could get more out of him.

“In my eyes, he is a luxury player. Eddie Howe wants work ethic from his team. Look at them against Arsenal, to a man they worked their socks off.

“I do not see Pulisic as an obvious transfer. Maddison is a player I can see fitting in but Pulisic not so much. You cannot doubt Eddie Howe though given the job he has done up there.”

In other news, Newcastle United have been told to complete a ‘£60m’ deal after Bruno Guimaraes source’s reveal.
