Newcastle United news: Medical expert pinpoints Callum Wilson ‘danger’ as new details emerge
Newcastle United will be well aware of the inherent “danger” of bringing Callum Wilson back from injury too early.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Wilson, 30, has been out of action with a serious calf injury since late December last year

As quoted by the Shields Gazette last Friday (15 April), Eddie Howe revealed that the centre-forward had taken part in some low-level shooting drills.
Football Insider revealed last month (15 March) that Wilson is confident of returning against Norwich City on Saturday (23 April).
But Dinnery claims that the four-time England international is at risk of re-injury if he is too hasty in his return to play.
“He is moving in the right direction,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“They will be proceeding with caution given his history with soft tissue injuries.
“With this injury specifically, you need to be careful with him because there is that danger there.
“If it was a choice between bringing him back too early or having a fully fit and firing Callum Wilson next season, you’d take the latter.
“If he does play some part in the run-in, fantastic. As long as he is moving in the right direction, that will suit Newcastle.”

Wilson scored six times in 15 league appearances before his injury.
Newcastle are 14th in the league standings with six games left to play, starting with Crystal Palace tomorrow night (20 April).
