Newcastle United news: Hutton suggests backroom rift after ‘strange’ Eddie Howe update
Eddie Howe could be frustrated with Newcastle United’s medical staff amid the club’s frequent struggles with injuries.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Ranger and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton responded to Howe’s “strange” comments regarding the club’s treatment of players during their injury-riddled campaign.
The boss admitted that “mistakes have been made” in terms of the club’s treatment of injured players and suggested their fitness programmes may have contributed to the swathe of long-term absences.
The Magpies remain without multiple key stars due to injuries, including Alexander Isak, Joelinton, Nick Pope and Callum Wilson.
Eddie Howe made “strange” comments about Newcastle’s injury troubles
Hutton suggested that there could be tension between Howe, whose side have slipped down the Premier League table in recent weeks, and the medical team amid the frequent setbacks.
“I tell you what, it’s a really interesting comment from Eddie Howe,” he told Football Insider.
“Only he will know how they’re dealing with injuries.
“He’s the one in the backrooms working with the medical staff.
“Is he not happy with them? I might not be, and he might not be.
“Has he been looking at their training regime? They might be doing too much or too little.
“But it’s quite strange that he’s come out and spoken about it to the press.

“It’s been really tough for them in terms of injuries and the big players they’ve missed for long periods of time.
“Of course, it’s something they’ll look back on and try to improve on so it doesn’t happen again.”
