Newcastle United ready to sell five senior players – sources

Newcastle United are willing to offload five senior players in the last week-and-a-half of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

MLS target Miguel Almiron and club captain Kieran Trippier are among the first teamers who could be sold before the 31st August cut-off.

Jamal Lewis is another defender that the Magpies are open to receiving offers for after being deemed surplus to requirements.

At least one of Martin Dubravka or Odysseas Vlachodimos may also leave the club, as Eddie Howe does not need two reserve goalkeepers.

The Magpies are looking to trim the squad before the transfer window closes, moving players on who are not part of Howe’s plans.

Any potential sales will aid the club in PSR and FFP, which will be beneficial when looking to sign players.

Newcastle United are streamlining the squad with these sales

The north east giants are aiming to be active in the final stretch of the transfer market, as they attempt to trim the squad and cash in on players who aren’t first choice.

The funds from those players could also help Newcastle strengthen the squad as the club continues to pursue Marc Guehi.

Football Insider revealed it would cost the Magpies £70million to sign the England international, which these five sales could help offset.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin warming up for Everton

At the other end of the field, Football Insider reported that Newcastle still hold a strong interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton are braced to receive offers for the 27-year-old striker who has rejected a new contract offer from the Merseyside club.
