Newcastle United to offer Bruno Guimaraes new deal ‘ASAP’ after what pundit has spotted

Newcastle United will offer Bruno Guimaraes a new deal “as soon as possible” amid speculation over his future.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Brazilian’s form.

Guimaraes, 24, joined Newcastle in January from Lyon for £40million and signed a contract that runs until 2026, worth around £120,000 a week.

He once again starred for the Magpies as they ran out 2-1 winners against Tottenham on Sunday (23 October).

On 15 October Football Insider revealed Newcastle are preparing to make the midfielder the best-paid player in the club’s history.

McManus expects Newcastle to offer Guimaraes a new deal as soon as possible.

“He is a fantastic player and what I spotted against Tottenham is this he has some engine on him,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“There is so much energy in the middle of the park for Newcastle now and it all starts with that boy Bruno.

“I mean, what a signing he has been for them. By far the best player on the pitch at the weekend. I know there is a lot of talk about him being offered a new deal, that needs to happen ASAP.

“He is really, really impressive and he is so important to the side. The fans love him too. He is someone who you need to tie down long-term.”

It is believed Newcastle are willing to offer Guimaraes a huge pay hike that would take him to around £200,000-a-week and extend his deal by two more years, meaning the club would end up paying him £60million in wages alone.

The Magpies are next in action against Aston Villa on Saturday (29 October).
