Newcastle United to open Kieran Trippier talks as offer lined up – sources
Newcastle United are highly likely to offer Kieran Trippier a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Magpies are keen to tie Trippier, 33, down to a new deal and talks are expected to open soon.
His contract at St James’ Park is set to expire at the end of next season, and well-placed sources have told Football Insider that other clubs will be monitoring his situation with a view to getting a cut-price deal.
It is believed that manager Eddie Howe will push the club to offer the full-back, who joined as PiF’s first major signing from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, a new deal.

Trippier penned a two-and-a-half-year contract after his reported £12million move from the La Liga side, but he nearly joined German giants Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.
Newcastle rejected multiple offers for the England international from Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Trippier has been a talisman for Newcastle both on and off the field and has regularly captained the side in the absence of Jamal Lascelles.
This season, he has started every game he has been available for in all competitions except the League Cup, notching a staggering 11 assists.
While the Magpies could be set to sanction a big-name player’s departure this summer, they also have a wide range of targets as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (1 March) that they want to sign a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker this summer.
The North West club recently tied midfielder Joelinton to a new long-term deal, as was confirmed by the club on Thursday (11 April).
Newcastle sit sixth in the Premier League table after their 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham on Saturday afternoon (13 April).
They are next in action against Crystal Palace on 24 April at Selhurst Park.
