Nico Raskin responds to Danilo Pereira’s ‘grind’ message amid Rangers exit news

Danilo Pereira’s latest social media update from Auchenhowie caught the attention of Rangers teammate Nico Raskin.

The 26-year-old striker has struggled to remain fit during his first two seasons at Ibrox, but nonetheless, has still managed 12 goals and eight assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

With both Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers heavily linked with Rangers exits this summer, new manager Russell Martin could look to depend on the Brazilian for the 2025/26 campaign.

One star who may not be available next season, however, is talented midfielder Nico Raskin, who could earn the Gers up to £25million amid interest from clubs like Aston Villa.

Considering that the club’s record sale remains as Calvin Bassey in the summer of 2022, moving to Ajax on a £23million deal [Sky Sports], the Light Blues may struggle to turn down any such offers for the Belgian.

Taking to Instagram (26 June), Danilo wrote: “Back on the field, back on the grind,” with a muscle emoji, receiving a response from Raskin, who wrote: “Your season,” with punch and prayer emojis.

The post also gained likes from teammates Jack Butland, Robin Propper, and Bournemouth’s Evanilson.

Football Insider verdict

The current squad contains a lot of talent, with Dujon Sterling, Jefte, Lyall Cameron, Connor Barron, Mohamed Diomande, and Oscar Cortes all just beginning their careers in Scotland.

However, multiple members are also getting into the twilight of their careers, and while a balance of talent and experience is vital, there is no doubt that the squad has been ageing rapidly.

Martin must add some youth to the team ahead of the 2025/26 season, and Football Insider understands that Liverpool have opened talks with Rangers-linked 22-year-old Owen Beck.

The Welshman could still be sent out on loan once he has penned a new contract at Anfield, and this would certainly be a player who could enhance the current defence after his season with Dundee.

Of course, there will need to be plenty of other signings made before the new season kicks off, especially if the ambition is to catch up with Old Firm rivals, Celtic, on the pitch, but there is still time.

Some supporters have not bought into the appointment of Russell quite yet, which is understandable, but he will need the support of those at Ibrox and the boardroom if he is to be successful next term.
