Phil Thompson has praised Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson and believes he has made the perfect start to his Anfield career.
The 23-year-old joined the Merseyside club in the summer from Hull and was expected to slot straight into the starting XI in the left-back position.
However, the Scotland international had to be patient in the early stages of the season as he was stuck behind Alberto Moreno in the pecking order.
Robertson has managed to force his way into contention recently and started the last four consecutive games for the Reds.
The attack-minded full-back is yet to taste defeat in the league as a Liverpool player and is beginning to cement his left-back slot.
Sky Sports pundit Thompson has been extremely impressed by the youngster for his displays since becoming a first-team regular.
“On the left I’ve gone for Andy Robertson, who has not put a foot wrong when he’s had his chances,” Thompson told Sky Sports.
Robertson is beginning to show exactly what Liverpool fans have been crying out for, which is a full-back with both attacking and defensive traits.
He is becoming increasingly important to Jurgen Klopp’s side and will hope to get the nod in the team Friday night against Arsenal.
The Merseyside club travel to the Emirates Stadium for a Premier League clash and will be desperate to cement their position in the top four.
