Nottingham Forest star Dean Henderson set for extended spell out with ‘grade two’ injury – expert

Dean Henderson has suffered a tear in his quadriceps muscle and will be out of action for up to six weeks at Nottingham Forest.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Henderson has played the full 90 minutes in every Premier League fixture this season barring the clash against parent club Manchester United.

The 25-year-old loanee has become a crucial part of Steve Cooper’s side, but now faces six weeks on the sidelines after injuring his thigh while taking a goal kick.

Henderson was able to see out the final minutes of Forest’s 2-0 win over Leicester City, but Cooper expressed concern about the seriousness of the injury after the full-time whistle.

Dinnery described Henderson’s injury as a “huge blow” for Forest and expects a month to be the minimum amount of time he spends in the treatment room.

We’re looking at a minimum of a month on the sidelines that could easily stretch to around four to six weeks,” Dinnery told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

So we’re looking at a fairly significant tear in the quadriceps muscle, and the timeline suggests that we’re looking at a grade-two injury.

It is a concern given his importance to the team and what he brings to Nottingham Forest.

It certainly looks as if we’re going to be without him for at least the next month or so.

It’s a big blow.
