Nottingham Forest told it may be ‘impossible’ to keep Morgan Gibbs-White
Nottingham Forest have been warned it may be impossible to keep Morgan Gibbs-White beyond the summer transfer window after an outstanding season.
The 26-year-old shone despite a disappointing season at the City Ground which saw them survive relegation late on and miss out on European football.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s decision not to call the midfielder up to the England squad ahead of the World Cup has led to suggestions he may have to move on.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Gibbs-White could be tempted to move on with multiple clubs keeping an eye on his situation.
The likes of Man United and Man City have been long-term admirers of his and could now step up to lure him away in what could be a difficult window for Nottingham Forest.

Football Insider revealed last month that Nottingham Forest would be forced to sell Gibbs-White if they were relegated from the Premier League this season.
However, even after the secured survival, the level of interest in the midfielder from top clubs across Europe could make it difficult for Forest to keep hold of him.

While suggestions about a move accelerating due to his absence from the England squad are believed to be exaggerated, his performances have still attracted interest.
“Gibbs-White is definitely going to be one to watch,” Brown told Football Insider.
“I’m not sure the England situation will impact it too much, to be honest. There used to be a time when the smaller clubs were snubbed, but it doesn’t happen so much any more.
“I thought it was strange that he wasn’t in the squad, but that’s up to Tuchel.
“He’s had an outstanding season for Nottingham Forest and he’s been crucial in keeping them in the Premier League, but it might be impossible to keep him around.
“I’m sure he will want to take the next steps in his career at some stage and there are plenty of clubs in England and in Europe prepared to offer that to him.
“The money will have to be right but that’s rarely an issue when there is real interest in a player, and that’s certainly the case with Gibbs-White.”
Which clubs are interested in signing Gibbs-White?
Despite making efforts to keep Gibbs-White by tying him down to a new deal last summer, there is a growing feeling Forest will not be able to replicate their success.
A lack of European football after what has been a turbulent season saw the midfielder play a key role in keeping them in the Premier League, but he could move on to higher feats.

Brown told Football Insider last month that Man United are strong suitors for Gibbs-White, while Man City have been long-term admirers in the midfielder.
Both Manchester clubs are aiming to strengthen their midfield options when the summer transfer window opens and could look to exploit his situation.
The opportunity to play Champions League football is set to appeal, while he could become part of a leading part of Michael Carrick’s new-look United side.
