‘He puts Pinocchio to shame’, ‘Deluded’ – Celtic fans react to claim made by Rangers chief King
Celtic fans have reacted with hilarity to Rangers chairman Dave King’s claim that the Ibrox side were the ‘best team in Scotland’ after winning some games in the Florida Cup in January.
The Gers chairman made the claim in the Daily Record, on the day that Steven Gerrard was appointed as the new Light Blues manager.
Unsurprisingly Hoops fans don’t agree with King’s assessment, particularly as the Bhoys have defeated the Ibrox side three times in the last two months.
One fan went as far as to claim that the Gers chairman was ‘totally deluded’.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to King’s comments:
King’s comments will no doubt add spice to the Old Firm rivalry, which could well be taken up a few notches with Gerrard’s appointment at Ibrox.
His battle with Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers next season will bring plenty of viewers to Scottish football, as both sides of the Old Firm have very high profile managers for the first time in a few seasons.
That is for next season though, as for the rest of this season the Gers are involved in a titanic battle to try and finish runners-up in the Scottish Premiership table, whilst the Hoops are looking to make history by becoming the first Scottish side to win the domestic treble two seasons in a row.
