Omar Marmoush set for fresh Man City exit talks as offer ready amid Premier League interest

Omar Marmoush is edging ever closer towards potentially leaving Manchester City before the end of the January transfer window.

The Egyptian has fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola this term, and has still played just 206 minutes of Premier League football since the start of the season.

Former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider at the start of January that he backs Tottenham to complete a move for Marmoush, as they bid to offer him an escape route from the Etihad Stadium.

Aston Villa have also shown an interest in the forward, who has quickly fallen behind the likes of Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo in the pecking order at City.

Euro club to open Omar Marmoush talks this week

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown previously told Football Insider that Marmoush is unlikely to leave Manchester City in the January window, but Semenyo’s arrival now appears to have altered the picture.

Marmoush returned to make a substitute appearance for Guardiola’s side in their 3-1 defeat to Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday, after spending the last few weeks at the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, his return to the fold with the Citizens may not last long if Fenerbahce are to get their way.

The Turkish giants have now emerged as another potential candidate to sign the 26-year-old, and they are planning to sit down with City and discuss a deal this week, according to Fotomac.

Domenico Tedesco’s side have a loan offer ready to go for the former Eintracht Frankfurt man, who is understood to be keen to leave his parent club in search of more football.

Fenerbahce are not the only team in the Turkish Super Lig who are chasing Marmoush’s signature, as their arch rivals Galatasaray are also keen.

Man City have clear sale candidate instead of Marmoush

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that City could look to sell Savinho instead of Marmoush in a bid to balance their spending.

The financial expert cited the lack of direct cover for Erling Haaland as a key reason why Guardiola and Co. are reluctant to allow Marmoush to leave in the middle of the season.

Savinho has only started five league games all season, and is currently out with an injury, which Borson feels could effectively have put the writing on the wall in terms of his future in Manchester.

City have revamped their attack in the last 12 months, and that looks set to already see players forced out of the door in order to balance the books.
