Omar Marmoush to Man City: O’Rourke shares update today after overnight ‘talks’
Man City are continuing to push for the signing of Omar Marmoush after holding talks with his representatives last night, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that they are weighing up an offer of around £50million in an attempt to persuade Eintracht Frankfurt to agree a deal.
This comes after Football Insider revealed in November that the Bundesliga outfit were prepared to demand between £50-60million to sell their star man in January.
The 25-year-old is said to be “very much interested” in a move to the Premier League and would welcome the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola.
As a result, there is growing optimism at the Etihad that an agreement can be reached this month as they ramp up their efforts to complete the deal.
City have made the signing of a new forward one of their top priorities this month given the lack of strength in depth behind Erling Haaland.
Man City plot £50million Omar Marmoush offer after new talks
Julian Alvarez’s move to Atletico Madrid in the summer saw City bank £82million, but the Argentina forward was not adequately replaced in that window.
This has left Haaland as the only out-and-out striker in Guardiola’s squad, with his 21 goals this season leading their tally, while their second top scorer, Phil Foden, has just five.
There is a belief among those at the Etihad that a more reliable source of goals either behind or alongside the Norwegian could be key to their return to form.
Marmoush has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists in 24 appearances so far this season, with a stellar record of 13 goals and eight assists in just 15 Bundesliga games.

In other news, Jack Grealish is likely to quit City for free.
