On-loan Rangers player drops hint about Ibrox future
On-loan Rangers midfielder Sean Goss has hinted that he would love the chance to extend his stay with the Gers and play under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox – but insisted that he is concentrating on his football and will wait until the end of the season to see where his future lies.
Goss is due to return to parent club QPR after next weekend’s clash with Hibs as his short-term deal at Ibrox comes to an end – just as the iconic former Liverpool star arrives to take the reins at Ibrox.
The German-born midfielder admitted the final two games – against Aberdeen and Hibs – are a “big chance” to impress before Gerrard arrives at Ibrox on June 1st to take his first steps in management.
“I have loved my time up here. That’s why I have been so gutted about being out of the team,” Goss said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“I want to enjoy the last week and hopefully play in both games.
“It is a big chance for everyone to show the new manager what they can do.
“Now I am just concentrating on playing football and seeing what happens at the end of the season.
“I still have time left on my QPR contract after this summer.”
Football Insider verdict
Goss has been stuck on the fringes at Ibrox recently and made his return to the side in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox when he came off the bench. The on-loan QPR man has impressed in flashed but his IBrox future will massively depend on the level of player Gerrard can attract to Ibrox. The former Man United youngster should have a big career ahead of him but might not be where the Gers need him to be in his development yet. After making a bright start at Ibrox, Goss found himself bombed out recently as the Gers struggled to find any sort of consistency and chopped and changed in midfield. The 22-year-old could have an important role against Aberdeen and Hibs this week as the Light Blues try to secure second in the Scottish Premiership and finish ahead of the Dons and take a step closer to finally catching bitter rivals Celtic.
In other Rangers news, both the Gers and Celtic are in the running to sign this £100,000-a-week Premier League midfielder who will be available in the summer.
