Done: Leeds wrap up signing that will send fans into meltdown – reliable journalist
By Harry Sykes
Leeds United have finalised the signing of Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, according to a reliable journalist.
Independent correspondent Jack Pitt-Brooke claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that Leeds’ pursuit of the 25-year-old is “done” and he will imminently arrive on a season-long loan.
The former Germany Under-21 international could not be the only forward who arrives at Elland Road by Thursday night, with the club also working on a deal to sign Malmo’s Pawel Cibicki.
German newspaper Bild have reported that Hamburg are likely to subsidise what could be a loan deal for one of their top earners, who has a salary of £59,000-a-week.
Leeds are in the market for at least one front man after the departure of Chris Wood to Burnley last week for an initial £15million.
The Yorkshire giants have 19-year-old Dutchman Jay-Roy Grot and the injured Caleb Ekuban, who is set to undergo foot surgery and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, as their only orthodox options to lead the line of attack.
In other Leeds United transfer news, the club have one striker deal in the big just days before the window shuts and are also closing in on another big-name signing.
