Paul Merson predicts Tottenham v Wycombe, states what will come to an end
By Amir Mir
Paul Merson has backed Tottenham to comfortably beat Wycombe 3-0 in the fourth-round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon at White Hart Lane.
Sky Sports pundit Merson believes the League Two club have done well to get to this stage of the competition but that “will come to an end” against Spurs.
The Chairboys are unbeaten in their last 16 games in all competitions, last losing a fixture against Coventry in the EFL trophy.
On the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are flying high in the Premier League having rescued a 2-2 draw against their title rivals Manchester City last time out.
Ahead of the game, former Arsenal playmaker Merson believes it will be an easy fixture for the north London club.
“Wycombe are doing very well at the minute but I cannot see past Tottenham at home,” Merson wrote in his Sky Sports column.
“Having started the FA Cup in the first round it’s a great achievement from Wycombe to get to round four. It’s a great pay day for them too, but that will come to an end at White Hart Lane.”
Pochettino’s side beat Aston Villa 2-0 to reach this round of the competition and they will be hoping to avoid an upset against the fourth tier side.
Gareth Ainsworth men are fifth in League Two on 43 points from their 26 games, five points off an automatic place.
They beat Mansfield Town in the EFL trophy two days ago and recorded a 1-1 draw at Luton Town last Saturday.
What will be more difficult for Wycombe is that Pochettino’s side are yet to be beaten at White Hart Lane this term.
They have picked up points against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham and beaten Premier League leaders Chelsea in their own back yard.
