Pep Guardiola’s perfect reaction to Leeds United hostility as Daniel Farke sent off vs Man City

Pep Guardiola and Daniel Farke had rather contrasting emotions at full-time as Man City claimed all three points at Elland Road.

Leeds United fought right until the final whistle, trying to find an equaliser after Antoine Semenyo’s first-half opener, but the home side fell just short on Saturday, 28 February.

Referee Peter Bankes had the majority of fans on his back throughout the game, questioning his every decision, during Man City‘s much-needed 1-0 win in the Premier League title race.

Due to the nature of the game, emotions were running high, and at full-time, Farke charged over to the referee in the centre circle, being shown a red card before he could even reach the officials.

It was clear that the manager disagreed with some of the decisions on the night.

Pep Guardiola is likely to have infuriated the Elland Road fanbase

Guardiola is often seen riling players up after the full-time whistle, or at least getting in heated conversations, but he was in a completely different mood at Elland Road.

While Farke was being dragged away from the officials, the Man City boss was spotted blowing kisses to the part of the stadium that had hounded him throughout the 90 minutes.

That is according to the Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan, who watched both moments unfold in real time, with Guardiola choosing to share the love instead of letting his emotions get the better of him.

Farke is now likely to miss the next three games for Leeds – Sunderland, Norwich City and Crystal Palace – and a couple of those matches could be crucial to the Whites’ Premier League safety.

Premier League title race opens up ahead of Arsenal vs Chelsea

Guardiola was likely the coolest figure at Elland Road once the full-time whistle blew, but inside, the Catalan will be sweating over the Premier League title race.

The gap on Arsenal has been reduced to just two points before their clash with Chelsea on Sunday, 1 March, and anything could happen at the Emirates this weekend.

While the Gunners have shown few signs of slowing down, the nerves are starting to creep into Mikel Arteta’s players, with only a couple of them having experience when it comes to lifting silverware.

The Citizens, on the other hand, have several title winners amongst the squad, despite a summer overhaul of exciting transfers, with even Marc Guehi lifting the FA Cup last season.

It is all likely to go right down to the wire, but Guardiola is keeping his cool in the moment.
