Forget loan deal: Celtic must make permanent swoop for PL attacker reportedly on radar
COMMENT
Celtic have once again been linked with Chelsea attacker Charly Musonda, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Hoops are prepared to either loan or buy the player in January.
The 21-year-old is exactly the type of player that the Bhoys should be trying to recruit, a young player with big potential whose best years are ahead of him.
The Belgian would seem an ideal fit for the type of football that the Hoops boss wants to play, and he could be an upgrade on the other attacking midfielders in the side.
However, if possible Brendan Rodgers, who seems to be a big fan of the player as he has been on the Hoops’ radar for months, should try and make the move permanent if possible, rather than a loan deal.
Whilst loan deals can sometimes work – Patrick Roberts for example – there are many more examples of the player not working out and returning to his parent club.
If the Hoops are serious about making a mark in Europe not only in the Europa League this season but in the Champions League next season, persuading Chelsea to let the player leave on a permanent deal would be making a statement.
Only time will tell if the player will end up making the move to Glasgow, and what kind of transfer it is.
