Philippe Clement breaks silence on Rangers sacking, shares ‘exceptional’ claim

Rangers are currently in a period of transition after what has been a disastrous season for the Scottish giants on all fronts.

The Gers are an enormous 16 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, having won just 18 of their 29 league games so far.

The Belgian coach was sacked over a week ago following Rangers’ defeat against St Mirren, with the club deciding that change was necessary.

Former club captain Barry Ferguson has since been brought in on a temporary basis until the end of the season in a bid to try and steady the ship.

Ferguson’s time in charge has been mixed so far with a promising 4-2 win to kickstart things before losing 2-1 against Motherwell.

The Scottish giants still have the chance to pick up silverware in the form of the Europa League, and they will play Fenerbahce in the Round of 16.

Philippe Clement bids goodbye to Rangers

Clement has now broken his silence on his time at Rangers ending by sending a farewell message to supporters via Instagram.

He said, “Dear Rangers, It has taken me a few days to fully process and accept the end of my time with this exceptional club. I leave with a heavy heart, frustrated and disappointed that I couldn’t consistently bring the team to the level we all expected, I understand your frustrations, and I share them.

“We worked passionately, day and night, and while we faced challenges, I will never forget the many great moments we had together. Your unwavering support and the energy from the fans made those times truly special. In those moments, it felt like we were on big family.

“For that reason, Rangers will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you, Philippe.”

Rangers are still searching for a permanent manager

Ferguson might be in charge of the club for now, but nothing has been decided in regards to his long-term future and whether or not the Gers will look to bring someone else in for next season.

Industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is open to making a return to Ibrox in the summer.

However, the likes of Sean Dyche, Steven Davies, Derek McInnes, and Russell Martin have all been linked to the role.
