Piers Morgan takes another bitter dig at Arsenal on Twitter after rivals CL heroics
By Matt Farr
Arsenal celebrity fan Piers Morgan has taken another dig at the club on Twitter following Leicester’s Champions League heroics on Tuesday night.
Leicester defied all odds to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit at the King Power Stadium, and book their place in the quarter finals of the competition.
Premier League rivals Arsenal, meanwhile, crashed out in the knockout round a week earlier with a 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich.
Following Tuesday’s shock result, Morgan took to his personal Twitter account to plead his latest case for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to be sacked.
He demanded the long-standing Gunners boss be sacked for failing to better Leicester in the Champions League this season.
Morgan is no stranger to making his feelings about the club known on Twitter, and is a chief advocate of the ‘anti-Wenger’ brigade.
He has continually called for Wenger’s head this season, after witnessing another pursuit of silverware come to an abrupt end well before the end of the campaign.
Arsenal crashed out of the EFL Cup in November and the Premier League title race in the new year, with the FA Cup remaining their only realistic chance of winning a title this term.
But an FA Cup title could mean very little for the club if they fail to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Arsenal are currently fifth in the league with 12 games remaining.
In other Arsenal news, Paul Merson has urged the club to sign this La Liga superstar to win the title.
