PL club plan move for Tottenham attacker who Pochettino is ready to let go – report

By Harvey Byrne

Fellow Premier League side West Brom are planning a move for Tottenham attacker Moussa Sissoko and Mauricio Pochettino is ready to let him go, according to a report.

The Sun have claimed on their website that the Baggies have the 27-year-old Frenchman in their sights with Spurs willing to part ways with him for £20million.

Sissoko himself became the north London club’s record transfer last summer in a £30million move from Newcastle, but he has largely failed to impress in his solo campaign and it is said in the Sun report that Tottenham are now willing to take a £10million loss instead of loaning him to Everton.

The 52-time capped France international agreed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane following his move last summer, but his time at the club could be heading to a premature end after 34 matches in all competitions in the last campaign where he failed to get on the score sheet once.

Football Insider verdict:

Sissoko’s transfer caused eyebrows to raise last summer and it wasn’t just because he was becoming Tottenham’s record transfer. It was a clear sign that prices had been severely inflated with many believing that Sissoko wasn’t even worth half the amount Spurs splashed out on him, especially after Newcastle themselves got relegated and the France international was angling for a move. Now, it looks like Tottenham will have to pay the price for a bid piece of business by taking a loss and it is felt they must take that now before Sissoko’s value drops further with more bad performances.
