Premier League giants could make surprise swoop for Tottenham star Harry Kane amid ‘massive’ claim – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Man United could make a surprise swoop for Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Kane would be more likely to win a trophy at United than Tottenham.
According to reports in Spain, as relayed by the Manchester Evening News (27 November), the Red Devils are interested in signing the 29-year-old as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The report claims that Erik ten Hag’s side are considering a shock January swoop for the England international, but it is unlikely Tottenham will let their star man leave midway through the season.
The striker’s current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium runs until 2024.
Kane is yet to sign an extension and on 26 November, this site revealed that Spurs will have to offer him an “extraordinary” contract to keep him in London.
But McAvennie has claimed Man United could convince the striker of a move away from Antonio Conte’s side.
“Man United are looking at Harry Kane,” he told Football Insider.
“Harry loves Tottenham but who knows how that is going to work out. If the manager goes and someone else comes in, Harry might think there is a chance of playing for a massive club like Man United.

“He might relish that chance. He might need that challenge. He is a Tottenham boy but I think that would be a good fit for him. I think him playing with [Marcus] Rashford would work well.
